General service description
The IP-Plus Fax Gateway is based on the Swisscom Fax Gateway. The customer sends a SMTP message which will be converted and delivered to the fax recipient. IP-Plus only forwards messages from customers who have registered for the service. The service is available exclusively for IP-Plus customers.
Addressing
The addressing to a fax recipient is: nnnnnnnn@fax.ip-plus.net, whereas nnnnnnnn stands for the recipient's fax number. The area code must always be present (e.g. 01, 031 for national or 0044, 0049 for international).
The Fax Gateway accepts multiple addressed messages. The maximum amount of addresses per e-mail is limited to 20.
Quality of service
Messages sent to the Fax Gateway will normally be transmitted to the recipient within a 2 hours limit. A total of 3 delivery attempts is made. The Fax Gateway generates a delivery or a non-delivery message to the sender for every recipient. These messages also serve as an accounting basis.
The Fax Gateway accepts Text (ASCII including accents e.g. ä, ö, ü, é, è) and the following attachments:
Microsoft Word (file extension .doc)
Microsoft Excel (file extension .xls)
Microsoft Power Point (file extension .ppt)
Acrobat Reader up to version 5 (file extension .pdf)
There is no specific service level for this service. A service up-time of 99,8% during office hours and of 98% outside the office hours is expected.
