General service description
The IP-Plus Virus & Spam Filter is a service option for IP-Plus Customers who
want their eMail traffic filtered against harmful and/or unwanted content. The
service is designed for customers who wish to run their own mail server at their
location. Basically our service acts as mail relay in a way that any incoming and
outgoing mail traffic will flow through our gateway.
For customers who do not have their own mail server infrastructure,
the Virus & Spam filter can be ordered as an option to
IP-Plus BusinessMail.
The gateway consists of a number of filtering engines. First mails get decoded
and unpacked to local chunks passed to the antivirus engine. Each chunk gets
analyzed using a state of the art AV scanning engine. If the mail contains known
malicious content, delivery gets blocked. Sender and recipient will receive a
notification mail about the blocked mail. The service will never pass such mail on
to the recipient, except if the AV filter is disabled for a particular mail address.
The second stage analyzes the content and header of the mail and collects spam
values, if the preset values are exceeded mails get marked as possible spam. The
filter will never delete such marked spam, but users may easy delete or move such
mails based on mail client inbox rules.
Features
The following features are available, these may be enhanced with further service releases:
- A fixed number of mail addresses for your domain (name@yourdomain.ch).
- Domain name mapping for your mail domain (receive mail for i.e. yourdomain.com, yourdomain.biz ect).
- Unlimited numbers of aliases per address.
- Free postmaster@yourdomain.ch address.
- Web based service administration panel, allows you to create, modify and delete addresses, aliases and domain aliases.
- Automated order interface allows you to order, update and cancel the service.
- Address packets available from 10 up to 10'000 mail addresses.
- Mail fallback function. Keeps mail in our queues for up to 5 days in case of
senders or recipients mail infrastructure malfunction.
- Notification of undeliverable mails.
Server infrastructure
IP-Plus Virus & Spam Filter runs on state of the art high performance UNIX servers that are connected
directly to the IP-Plus Internet backbone. This assures reliable and fast mail
transport. We use the industry's leading antivirus software automatically kept up to
date.
Customer Care
Problems and malfunctions arising in connection with the IP-Plus Virus & Spam
Filter can be reported 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to Customer Support
(0800 55 56 22). Fault repair hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Any IP-Plus or SecurePoP Expert availability guarantees and SLA's do not apply to
the IP-Plus Virus & Spam Filter.

Order
IP-Plus customers can order IP-Plus Virus & Spam Filter on the customer portal
My.IP-Plus
using their username/password for IP-Plus service options. After having placed the
order the customers receive necessary configuration information by fax, including
postmaster account information which enables administration of the service by the
web interface.
