Using FTP client

  1. Start your FTP client software.
  2. Enter the host name (FTP server name) as shown on the order confirmation fax.
  3. Enter the user ID (username) as shown on the order confirmation fax.
  4. Enter the password as shown on the order confirmation fax.

Using Microsoft Frontpage 2000

1. Open a web using MS Frontpage

  • Start Microsoft Frontpage 2000
  • Select "File" / "Open Web"
  • Put your web server URL (including http://) in the "Folder name" input field (e.g. http://www.customer.ch/) and click "Open"

  • Microsoft Frontpage will ask about a username and password. Provide the webmaster username/password that you received per fax on the order confirmation.
  • Depending on your internet access bandwith, it will take some time to load your web presentation.

2. Change the administrator (webmaster) password

  • Open the Web using Microsoft Frontpage
  • Select "Tools" / "Security" / "Change Password"

Note that this will NOT change your FTP password, if there is also an FTP account.

3. Create a web for a closed user group

If parts of your web site should not be available to all internet users, you can create a private subweb.

Select "File" / "New" / "Web":

Specifiy the name of your new subweb (e.g. http://www.customer.ch/privateweb) and click OK. The new web will be created immediately.

Open the new subweb and select "Tools" / "Security" / "Permissions". In the "Settings" Folder, select "Use unique permissions for this web" and add users to in the "Users" folder.

4. Using MS Frontpage and a FTP client at the same time

We don't recommend to use MS Frontpage and FTP access to your web site simultaneously.
